Infrastructural and artistic renovation of the Kurriz tunnel

Cities endure through the spaces that carry their collective memory. They preserve the traces of time, the stories of their people, and the moments that shape a shared urban identity. It is within this relationship between memory and space that DIEFORM has developed its practice as an interdisciplinary research platform exploring experimental architecture, design, and contemporary art through a process in which research and education continuously inform one another. The practice approaches architecture as an act of critical reflection, where every intervention emerges from a careful reading of context and seeks to create meaningful, lasting value for both the city and its communities. Kurrizi i Dardanisë, one of Prishtina's most iconic public spaces, represents an irreplaceable fragment of the city's urban memory. For decades, it has served as a meeting place, a point of orientation, and a stage for everyday social life. During the 1990s, under conditions of political repression, its underground character provided a refuge for cultural expression and social interaction, transforming the space into a powerful symbol of cultural resilience. The project emerged from the desire to reconnect this collective memory with the contemporary life of the city.
