Ballie Mosque

The approach to this project has been conceptualized to bring forth a contemporary architecture that, in its form, conveys messages about the traumatic socio-political heritage in our region, with a responsibility for well-informed consideration of the future in relation to the past. The rhythm of the façade in relation to light, the dome’s reinterpretation through the overlay of octagonal rings, and the minarets as vertical elements have been designed as geometric interpretations of Islamic tradition through the use of contemporary materials. These elements also symbolize the triumph of the spiritual dimension over strains from the political systems. The conceptualization of the interior space is rooted in creating an experience that fosters the Human-Creator relationship. The presence is subtle yet carefully controlled, serving as a bridge between the internal and external spaces. The introduction of natural light is deliberate, while maintaining an indirect source, emphasizing the quality of time awareness. The invitation to introspection is a fundamental aspect of this approach, encompassing some of the key elements considered in the composition of the mosque’s spaces. Ballia Mosque project represented a significant opportunity for the development of our skills and the undertaking of further challenges in a professional setting, in relation to clients and other stakeholders.
