Nature does not create rigid or regular geometries; instead, it shapes everything through rhythm, cycles, and organic forms that unite, protect, and establish lasting balance. It is precisely from this logic that the concept of the “Kasollet e Zanave” (Fairies’ Cabins) Tourist Village was born. The circular form was chosen as the fundamental element of the composition, not only for its symbolic value but also for its ability to create welcoming, protected spaces that remain in constant dialogue with nature. Timber, stone, and other locally sourced materials are treated as integral elements of the site’s identity, giving the complex an authentic character and an organic connection with the environment in which it is built. Based on this philosophy, Maden Group has developed an architectural practice that views design as a process in which creativity is combined with contemporary technology to create spaces with identity and lasting value. Founded in 2009, the studio approaches every building as the result of a reflective design process, where form, material, and context are brought together into a coherent architectural whole. The cabin is perhaps the earliest form of human shelter—an architecture born from the need to live in harmony with nature. Inspired by the construction intelligence of traditional Albanian architecture, the complex translates this heritage into a contemporary architectural language, where timber, stone, and organic forms create an authentic living experience. More than a tourist destination, “Kasollet e Zanave” is an invitation to rediscover the slower rhythm of life, Albanian hospitality, and the relationship between people and nature through an architecture that respects the place from which it emerges.
The complex is organically arranged across the terrain, with each unit carefully positioned to preserve privacy, orientation, and its relationship with the surrounding landscape. Natural materials, their textures, and earthy tones create an architecture that appears to have grown from the site itself. The shared spaces revive the spirit of community life characteristic of the traditional Albanian village, while the circular organization encourages interaction, communication, and a sense of belonging. For Maden Group, “Kasollet e Zanave” represents one of the projects that best expresses the studio’s creative identity. It demonstrates that architecture can be both contemporary and deeply rooted in tradition, innovative while remaining sensitive to the place in which it is built. More than a tourist complex, the project is a reflection on how form, material, and nature can work together to create a truly unique experience.
