For 1010 Studio, architecture sometimes begins with a simple question: how can we inhabit nature without changing it? This question guides the studio’s practice. Founded by architect Visar Geci, who earned both his architecture degree and master’s degree from TU Graz, the studio develops contemporary projects with a clear conceptual identity and a thoughtful relationship with the landscape. Based in Prishtina and engaged in professional collaborations across Austria, Germany, Greece, and other European countries, the studio explores new residential typologies, combines advanced technologies with contemporary building standards, and regards innovation as a means of creating architecture that is both sustainable and closely connected to the way people live.
HUT SPACE emerged from the ambition to explore a new approach to building on sloping terrain, where intervention in the landscape would be reduced to a minimum. Rather than adapting the topography to the architecture, the project was conceived around the idea of allowing the architecture to adapt to the slope of the site. Designed in the form of a cabin, the building rests on minimal points of contact with the ground, preserving the natural footprint of the terrain while opening panoramic views in every direction. The modular steel structure was selected not only for its structural efficiency and prefabrication potential, but also for its ability to create a lightweight, transportable, and adaptable building suitable for a variety of environments.
The concept reinterprets the archetype of the mountain cabin through a contemporary architectural language, where geometric simplicity, technology, and the landscape coexist in balance. Every element has been carefully considered to minimize the ecological footprint and strengthen the relationship with nature, while the interior is organized as a calm, light-filled retreat. Rather than dominating the landscape, the project becomes part of it, demonstrating that building can be an act of respect for a place rather than an act of transforming it.
For 1010 Studio, HUT SPACE represents an important milestone in the evolution of the studio’s identity. The project marks a significant step toward the realization of architecture with minimal environmental impact, where modular construction and prefabrication are understood not merely as technical solutions, but as essential components of a broader design philosophy. It embodies the belief that the future of architecture lies in the ability to build with modular systems while preserving nature as much as possible. In this sense, HUT SPACE is a reflection on how people can inhabit the landscape with humility, responsibility, and imagination.
